Gut Microbiome

Gut Microbiome plays a major role in digestion, vitamin synthesis, immune system development, and ion absorption. When the composition of the gut microbiome is altered, it can lead to many health problems. If you have symptoms such as abdominal pain or bloating, indigestion, diarrhea or constipation, headaches, fatigue, joint pain, and brain fog, then it is possible that you have a leaky gut. Navella offers an intestinal panel to determine if you may have leaky gut.

Leaky Gut Syndrome

The Leaky Gut test involves collection of a urine sample following the ingestion of a testing solution. The solution contains molecules of different sizes and the rate that these molecules pass through the intestine is measured to give an analysis of intestinal permeability and tight junction activity.

Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth

Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) occurs when there is too much bacteria in the small intestine. It is a common underlying cause of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) type symptoms. Most of our gut bacteria reside in the large intestine and it performs a variety of important roles. A much lower number of bacteria are found in the small intestine. When there is an overgrowth of bacteria in the small intestine, it can interfere with digestion and absorption. As a result, gases such as hydrogen and methane are produced when the bacteria breakdown food entering the intestine from the stomach. This may lead to gastrointestinal symptoms and impaired nutritional uptake.

Candida (yeast) Culture

While Candida is a natural-occurring fungus or form of yeast in the body, when it becomes out of balance within the body it can be problematic to your health. It is important to test for candida overgrowth, especially if you are having health issues, to determine if candida is the cause of your health problems. Testing also enables your practitioner to devise the best treatment plan.

Intestinal Health Markers

The Intestinal Health markers is a non-invasive stool test, which measures 6 key gut, immune, inflammatory and digestive health markers. This test can be used to provide a clinical picture of how a patient is responding to their microbiome, as well as a comprehensive overview of GI and digestive function. It is valuable in the assessment of: IBS/IBD, Maldigestion/weight loss, Diarrhoea and Abdominal pain/cramping. These include: Beta defensin 2, Calprotectin, Pancreatic elastase, Secretory IgA, Zonulin and bile acids.
